On September 21, 2024 the Coopertown Police Department hosted the 4th Annual Touch-A-Truck event, bringing together various first responders and agencies for a day of interactive fun and education. Families and children had the unique opportunity to explore emergency vehicles up close, including those from the Coopertown Police, Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), Air Evac, Robertson County Sheriff’s Office, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA), and even the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) National Response Team.
The event provided an engaging way for kids to meet local heroes and learn about their vital roles in the community. From climbing aboard fire trucks to sitting in police cruisers and exploring rescue helicopters, children had a hands-on experience that fostered respect and appreciation for those who keep the community safe. In addition to the vehicles, attendees enjoyed activities, and even photo opportunities with the various departments. The presence of agencies like TWRA and ATF also highlighted the diverse range of public safety roles and the collaborative efforts required to maintain a secure and vibrant community.
In addition to the emergency vehicles, the Coopertown Street Department had some of their heavy equipment on display as well. There were also food trucks for food and refreshments.
Coopertown Police Chief Tyler Haley expressed gratitude to all the participating agencies and attendees, noting that the event helps build trust and strengthen bonds between residents and first responders and supports the annual shop-with-a-cop event. The Touch-A-Truck event continues to grow in popularity, offering families a day filled with excitement and education while showcasing the importance of community collaboration and safety.
The event was a resounding success, bringing together neighbors, first responders, and local agencies for a memorable day of fun and learning.
