The highly anticipated first reading and vote on the proposed rezoning of the 48.5-acre parcel adjacent to Oak Pointe has been unexpectedly tabled according to the Coopertown website. The board will not take action on the request to rezone the land from Agricultural (AG) to Mixed Use Residential/Commercial (MURC) at the July 22nd meeting, and no new date has been announced for when it will come back for consideration.
What Happens Now?
What this means is simple: the issue isn’t necessarily over. It’s only delayed. The proposed rezoning could return to the BOMA agenda at any time or future meeting. With no timeline currently set, residents should remain ever vigilant and informed. This pause offers an important opportunity to continue public dialogue and make your voice heard. This issue will likely be back. What remains unknown is when. When that day comes, citizen voices—already making an impact—will be just as vital.
