A New Chapter for Coopertown: Smith, Rundle, and Mason Elected to Lead

Coopertown voters have spoken, electing Jeff Smith as Mayor, with Tim Mason as Ward 1 Alderman and Candace Rundle as Ward 2 Alderman. The newly elected leaders share a commitment to Coopertown’s future, aiming to preserve the town’s cherished rural charm while planning for thoughtful growth and community unity.

Throughout the campaign, Smith, Mason, and Rundle emphasized shared messages of transparency, fiscal responsibility, and inclusive community engagement. Smith’s vision as mayor centers on responsible and sustainable development while ensuring that Coopertown retains its unique rural identity. His dedication to both honoring the town’s roots and preparing for future needs resonated with voters, who saw in him a balanced approach that promises stability and progress.

Commenting on his win, Smith said: “I would like to thank everyone who supported me during this campaign! I am humbled and honored to be your Mayor! It has been a very engaging election cycle, which I respect. The engagement by everyone reaffirms our desire to work for our future and while we may have some differences in how we get there, the overall vision is consistent, and I welcome constructive ideas to make the best decisions for our town. We have issues to work on like many other neighboring communities between two major growth cities including preserving our town’s independence, managing our growth and development, infrastructure needs, budget considerations, supporting our police and fire departments for our protection and safety, and strengthening relationships in our community together as neighbors and as a welcoming culture. One thing I learned about our town during this election is that we love our town and from those who have lived here all their lives and those that chose to live here and call it home is that we want to preserve our unique country environment yet want to work on a future that we collectively design. With all of us constructively working together, we will “Honor the Past and Embrace our Future”. We are in a time of our town’s history for each of us to do our part in building a future for our town for future generations. I am ready to get to work on our future with our board, committees and each of you and I am sincerely honored to be your Mayor and sincerely appreciate your support! Together, we have this!”

We reached out to Robert Watts for his commentary about the election results and he said: “I just want to congratulate Jeff Smith.”

Tim Mason, with his background in legal professions and business, is prepared to bring a strong focus on public safety, open communication, and responsible governance to his role as Ward 1 Alderman. Mason’s practical experience and dedication to transparency reflect his goal of ensuring that Coopertown remains a safe and welcoming place for all residents.

Candace Rundle, with her experience in law enforcement and healthcare leadership, has consistently advocated for a more connected and informed community and the preservation of Coopertown’s rural charm. As Ward 2 Alderman, she plans to foster greater involvement among residents, ensuring that every voice is heard in the town’s decision-making process.

The shared vision of Smith, Mason, and Rundle sets a hopeful tone for Coopertown’s future. Their alignment on maintaining the town’s character while responsibly guiding its growth reflects the values many Coopertown residents hold dear. Together, they are poised to lead Coopertown into a new chapter—one marked by thoughtful progress, community unity, and a dedication to the needs and dreams of every resident.

As Smith, Mason, and Rundle begin working to build a thriving community that honors its past while embracing the future, residents are hopeful that this new leadership team will continue to make Coopertown a place they are proud to call home.
